November

Artist Statement

In retrospect, I see a single series of works, from Emerson and “Money,” through this, the last of the year, named for its month. I have little to say about “November.” Processes used to create the image participate in its meaning, through space and over time. Sections of the fence affixed to silver remain relatively vivid, while iron tiles rust to indeterminacy. The final layer of cyanotype images were toned using a strong tannic acid solution. Those tiles fade more rapidly, slowly destroying the façade until the structure loses its form. This may take a year, or a decade. But all fences fall.

October-November 2024

Photo enlargement from film negative on silver gelatin paper, and cyanotype on archival paper, bound to wood tiles.
