digital Residue

Artist Statement

Today, as I walked through downtown Pontiac, I witnessed the demolition of a substantial portion of the remaining Phoenix Center. Instead of my usual film camera, I had my Pentax monochrome digital. As an accident of history, then, I conclude this narrative with digital images. A red filter improved contrast, but also produced significant symbolic erasures--noted below. The pseudo-historical echo, moving from cyanotype ("Negations"), to silver gelatin ("Artifacts"), to digital, was as unintentional as the erasures.
